World travels

Here's a little peek into our trip to Costa Rica and Nicaragua, where we got engaged.

We stayed in a gorgeous resort that overlooked the beach. It meant we were about a five-minute walk from the water, but it's amazing how much you don't mind when the trade off is that you look out your window and see this:

Of course, we got out of the restort a bit, and checked out nearby Coco Beach. While we were there, we stopped into a bar/restaurant and had a Costa Rican beer (or two). Pretty delish!

Then we went to Nicaragua, where we had a boat tour of Lake Nicaragua. It started off with beautiful weather, which let us take pictures like these:

But eventually a storm settled in, and it started making us feel like we were on a three-hour tour. By the end, rain was coming down in sheets:

Once we came ashore, we checked out Granada:

And to top things off, we stopped by Masaya volcano, where we were able to walk to the top and look into the heart of the beast. Yes, this is an active volcano. Yes, that is sulfur gas constantly being released.

And no trip to the region would be complete without a zipline tour. Even though I've been a rock climber for years, flying out over the river--which was mindbendingly far below--gave my heart a thrill.

It doesn't do it justice, but I'll wrap things up by saying it was an amazing trip.

How engaging

We have big news in the GKH world! I am an engaged woman.

While on a trip to Costa Rica, my boyfriend got down on one knee and popped the question. And, since he's the greatest man on the entire planet, I was thrilled to say yes. Another bonus? Wearing that gorgeous, estate ring. Winning on two fronts, methinks.

I won't bore you with too many wedding details, but if you want to know more, you can check out our wedsite. (Yea, I said wed-site. Whaddaboutit?)

And for those who can't get enough travel photos, I'll post some in a few days.
