It's been a long time coming, but I've finally made some progress on
the lonely chair I found waiting to be picked up on trash day. For months it sat in my living room with no seat and only a rough layer of white spray paint to perk it up. (I really should have kept the mid-project version of the chair in the basement, but I was hoping that by looking at it every day, it would inspire me to work on it sooner. No such luck, unfortunately.)
Well, I finally made a little time for this strange lady, and now I can see where I'm taking her. She came to me in that horrific, mottled '70s-era faux wood finish. Oh, and don't forget the red velvet seat cushion. That was special, too. I've never seen a red velvet seat anywhere else in my life, but I'm pretty sure they were only ever used in casinos and as props in haunted houses.
So, she started looking like this:

(But with a seat cushion that would be more fitting at the Taj Mahal, and not the good one.)
And now she looks a little more like this:

Just a sneak peek!

OK, here's a little more!
I gave the chair many, many coats of a high gloss spray lacquer, a new seat cushion, and a white skirt. We've still got a long way to go--with pillows, and maybe a little more tailoring--but here's to progress!
