A white canvas

The hubby and I are looking for a living room change. We want something neutral, but with style. Yesterday, I talked about going green on the walls. But we're not 100 percent sold on the idea.

The other color we're thinking about is more the of absence of color. That's right, we're itching to go white. There are so many reasons to take the plunge. It makes the space brighter, it's incredibly modern and chic, and it's the ultimate neutral. But the real reason I'm attracted to it, is that we can get away with putting up some molding on the walls.

Our space is pretty new construction, and while it has some built-in character with tile mosaics in the kitchen and bathrooms, it could use a little more zing. That's especially true when you consider that we live in such a historic city.

I'm channeling one of these old-world flats for inspiration. We may not be able to put in herringbone floors, but we can have white molding on white walls.

Here, I'm drawn to the contrast between the walls and the dark couch. Since we have two very lovely dark brown couches that aren't gong anywhere, I need to make this concept work.

And just because I can't get enough of rooms bathed in white, here's one more:
